Allen, Paula Gunn. "The Feminine Landscape of Leslie Marmon Silko's Ceremony." Studies in American Indian Literature. New York: MLA, 1988. 127-33. [Dennis Ferri]
In this selection, the author shows how women are portrayed in Native American culture, especially as it pertains to Ceremony. She gives examples of the feminine theme in the book, and proves that every symbol in the book has something to do with womanness. Finally, she shows how the ceremony is an initiation into a type of motherhood, and how Tayo is initiated into motherhood via the ceremony.
