Maestro Nair's conducting career featured him at the head of one of New Jersey's premiere choruses, the Summit Chorale. For 34 seasons (1970-2004) he led the Chorale to both critical and audience acclaim. He now carries the title, Music Director Emeritus with that organization. In addition to his work with the Summit Chorale, he is the former Conductor/Music Director of the Chamber Symphony of New Jersey and former Assistant Conductor of the New Jersey Symphony, and the former Conductor of the senior division of the Lakeland Youth Symphony.

Throughout his career, Prof. Nair has also served as guest conductor leading such orchestras as the Colonial Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke's (New York), Manila Symphony (Philippines), Golliard Chamber Orchestra (New York), Opera at Florham (NJ), Warwick Festival (Warwick, NY) and the Heritage Strings of St. Patrick's Cathedral (New York) with whom he made is Alice Tully Hall debut in 1984.
