| Techniques of the Voice | One semester: Basics of vocal production including anatomy, physiology and physics. The class studies three songs, one each in Italian, English and German and performs them in the Concert Hall as a final exam. All students perform vocal exercises and songs in front of the class. | ||
| Introduction to Conducting | One semester: This course benefits all musicians because it provides a good in-depth look at the basics of conducting including time patterns, cueing, and expression. Students in the class perform as an ensemble and everyone participates by conducting the group. | ||
| Style Analysis | One semester: a course based on the work of the late Jan LaRue of New York University. This type of analysis goes far beyond the ordinary course in this genre and delves into the concinity of elements of sound, harmony, rhythm, melody and form. | ||
| Orchestration* | One semester: a look at orchestral instruments, their history, their construction, and, their use in the orchestra through history. | ||
