Michael J. Christensen (M.A., Yale, Ph.D., Drew), is the Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Drew University where he teachers spirituality and religious studies, and oversees six doctoral program concentrations, including the “Global/Online Ministerial Leadership Development,” “Congregational Growth and Development,” and “Pastoral Care and Counseling.”

His B.A. in Literature and Psychology is from Point Loma Nazarene University, his M.A. in Religion from Yale Divinity School, and his Ph.D. in Theological and Religious Studies is from Drew University.  Currently, he is teaching in the area of spirituality and practical theology.

His Ph.D. dissertation is on “Apocalyptic Interpretations of the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster”  and has published nine books and many articles on spirituality and social justice. 

Dr. Christensen is an ordained United Methodist minister in the California-Nevada Annual Conference.  He lives with his wife, Rev. Rebecca Laird, and two teenage daughters in Madison, NJ.
