Snap-shot second

Your hand was around my waist

and my hand was around yours

We were holding each other, smiling

for a snap-shot second

we were one.

In a flash and a wind of the film,

we were two again,

walking away from each other

across the lawn.

A photograph is an amazing thing

on the glossy paper, you and I are together

forever, smiling in each other’s arms

as I always wanted us to be

There is no “us” without you, though

There is only a photograph

and the memory of the

Snap-shot second

when, for once,

we weren’t strangers
