Kristin’s Doughnut Poem

(a.k.a. Ellen’s Hebrew National Poem)

“Gee Golly, Ben,”

I said one day,

“You ate all the doughnuts off the tray!

“You had Boston Kreme and coconut,

“Plain and sprinkled and cherries, cut.

“Powedered sugar was on one.

(I bet eating that sure was fun!)

“You had cinnamon raisin, chocolate pie,

“Peanut Butter and Jewish rye.

“Jelly filled and one glazed too,

“Onion Garlic and berry blue!

“Cider, a Kreuller, and vanilla iced,

“Low mein, egg roll, and Chinese rice!

“Apple, Orange and a pear,

“An egg roll doughnut sure is rare!

“You had high fat, low fat and in between,

“Cranberry, pumpkin and Irish Cream.

“You might have saved the best for last,

“But I couldn’t see – you ate too fast!

“But while you’re eating and having fun,

“I’d like a second….I only had one!”
