Graceful July

I remember graceful July raindrops dribbling down my window

Some managing to make their way through the screen

While others clung on the outside of the wire or ran downward

Creating tiny clean rivers down the siding of the house

Removing dust and dirt in light skinny paths

I opened both the glass window and the screen

To welcome in the heavy summer air

The hot breeze broke over the splintered wooden windowsill

Swimming into the dark stuffy kitchen

The humid air danced on the stained linoleum floor

A muddy wind swept through my lungs as I inhaled

Reminiscing about that house in the summer.
