The Rahway Valley Jerseyaires Held their 35th Annual Novice Quartet Contest on Saturday February 24th 1996. Eleven competing quartets from five Mid-Atlantic States were on hand to complete a night of fun and harmony.

 This years winners were:
1st place Gold: "The Firm" from Hunterdon,NJ Chapter
2nd place Silver: "Applause" from Montclair NJ and Manhattan NY Chapters
3rd place Bronze: "Oasis" from Hunterdon, NJ Chapter

 The young third place quartet "Oasis" were composed of four young men: Jonathan Fitt (Tenor age 13), Jamie Fitt (Lead age 17), Matt Toner (Bass age 19) and Dan Deisroth (Baritone age 16). Ah Youth!

 Featured on the program were the 1995 Westfield novice quartet champions "Nu-Balance" from Lancaster, PA., consisting of a father, two sons and another guy. The quartet received a standing ovation from the audience. Closing the evening festivities was the fabulous Rahway Valley Jerseyaires Chorus directed by Jim Bazewicz. A good time was had by all.
