The Beethoven tune contains durations that are beat-length (quarter note), half a beat (8th-note) and twice the beat (half note). Do you hear any other? Listen again:
Hopefully you discerned a duration that lasts a beat and a half. This would be notated as a “dotted-quarter”. A dot added to a notehead adds half the duration of that notes value, thus a dotted-quarter = 1-1/2 beats.
