The Passion of Youth

Starting intellectual discussions at an “anything but clothes” party

Half intoxicated

We debate the role of language in the definition and execution

Of the differentiation between sex and gender

And let’s move on to an epiphany of how we all view the world

Head, heart, soul, hands.

I’m burnt out from a lifetime of long weeks

But my mind is set on fire with the passion in front of me.

Heavy words and rapid gestures

Articulating the depth of understanding

And consciousness of the youth of my today.

I live for these moments and after

I can walk home to sleep deeply for the first time in a month.
