Welcome to my site! It is a work in progress.

To former students and others, check out the course listings for the Spanish department. There was a sea change a few years back and now it is quite "cutting edge."

Fun things coming up:

  • CALENDAR of events

  • Lecture: Peter Carroll, Historian, Stanford University Wednesday October 1 2003, 4:30pm Wendell Room, Mead Hall- "Global Intervention and personal choice: The case of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Volunteers in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Author of The Odyssey of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade.
  • Drew International Seminar: Myth and Memory of the Spanish Civil War (1936-39); January 2-23, 2004; Professors Bunn and Cantero.

    Random career highlights:

  • Directing Vanderbilt University's program in Madrid (twice).

  • Meeting Abe Osheroff, Abraham Lincoln Brigade volunteer in Spain during its civil war (1936-39) and enjoying a 20-year friendship with so many others of these courageous men and women. The vets inspired many of my students and sparked an abiding research interest.
