Paolo Cucchi

Dr. Paolo Cucchi, a  native Italian from Trieste, is Dean of the College of Liberal Arts as well as Professor of French and Italian.  Dr. Cucchi received his M.A. and Ph.D. in French and Italian from Princeton University.  He has published on J.J. Rousseau and Laurent de Premierfait.  He has also participated on numerous conferences dealing with the early French "nouvelle,” the French translations of Boccaccio's Decameron and gender studies.  His appointments are too many to be listed, among them, Dr. Cucchi is a member of the Board of Overseers for the Governor's School of New Jersey; a member of the Board of Directors of the Legg Mason Closed End Funds; of the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts.  Above all, Dr. Cucchi has a genuine passion for teaching which he is hoping to do more of in the future.

Dr. Occhipinti holds a Laurea in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Florence and received his PhD in Italian Literature from Rutgers University. He has published on Italo Svevo, Anna Maria Ortese, Igino Ugo Tarchetti, and his area of specialization covers Eighteenth to Twentieth Century Italian Literature, with a focus on travel literature, the Italian American experience, psychoanalysis, film, cultural and comparative studies, language pedagogy and the effective use of technology in the classroom. He is also the director of the Summer Program in Venice.

Ms.Carla Mastropierro (diploma in Elementary School Education from Italy; B.A.,Montclair University; M.A.,Rutgers University) is a native of  Basilicata region in Italy and was for several years a teacher, director and  coordinator of Italian language courses sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Education. Currently, she is the Executive Director of the Italian Educational & Cultural Center of Jersey City, NJ,  a social service and cultural organization, sponsor of  the Italian Immigration Museum. She is also the liaison of the Italian Vice Consulate.

Ms. Susanna Pastorino, a native Italian from Salerno, holds a Laurea in Law from the University of Salerno, Italy. She received her M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the Arizona State University, where she taught Italian for four years. Her areas of interest include bilingualism in children and second language acquisition.

Ms. Samantha Costanzo holds a B.A. from Smith College, an M.A. in Italian Literature from Middlebury College and is currently working on a PhD in Italian Literature at Rutgers University, where she has taught Italian for the past 3 years. She also teaches English as a Second Language.
