Greg Law was a jock, a soccer player for the University of Colorado. He still is a student and athlete there, but now he answers a higher calling. He met Elizabeth, and was drawn into her world of strange gods and difficult choices. To begin with, Greg wanted little to do with all of these strange events. Elizabeth's mentor, John Twofeathers, spoke to the young soccer player and offered him a choice: turn his back on everything and live a normal life, or embrace a destiny that would lead to his death protecting Elizabeth.

Greg chose a heroic death.

John helped Greg reach the parts of himself that allowed him to fight, that would make him a powerful warrior. He then gave Greg two gifts. The first was a shirt, a Ghost Shirt that would protect Greg from harm in battle.

Then John gave Greg a stick, Greg's spear, with which to fight those who threatened Elizabeth. This stick strikes with the force of a thunderbolt when thrown, and always returns to Greg's hand.

Greg is an intense person, an arrogant young man who is now aware of his own importance. He has no fear, for he knows he is to die. When the moment comes, he will be ready, until then, he knows he will come to no harm. Greg's weakness for liquor and women may make him a less than ideal protector, but when the time comes to defend Elizabeth, Greg will face the threat unflinchingly. He is ready to protect her, even if she doesn't realize the threat.

Greg liked Nathan, and when Shane killed him, it solidified Greg's opinion of the god. In Greg's view, Shane is dangerous. Greg may be Elizabeth's protector, but he isn't her servant. He will protect her from herself, if necessary.
