Shane Dak Mueller is something of an enigma in the Boulder community. He is thought to be a wealthy private investigator who works exclusively for a few clients. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Shane is in actuallity one of the Norse Gods, come to Earth in exile from his people. He is known by many names and identities; Lord Corianne the Battler, Uller the Hunter, Ull the Lord of the Forests and Winter, Odinson, Borillia the God Scourge, "He who stood against the Army of Hel" and dozens more that few can remember. Shane has recently admitted that his crime against the Aesir was the murder of Baldar before his set time of death. Why he performed this act is only known to a few, and Shane doesn't seem willing to explain the details.
The love of Shane's life is Lucy Ryan, one of the Sister-Guardians of the Valley of the Moon. Their relationship was a troublesome one, both sides needing to learn how to act as a couple without losing their individual identities. Despite the many highs and lows, Shane and Lucy recently were married in the Norse fashion. Lucy can now been seen wearing a gold ring with the runes "Draupnir" etched on it's front. This ring was one of the copies of his father's famed ring, and could only be given to the one individual an Odin's Son sees as his mate.
Elizabeth and Shane's relationship has always been a rocky one, though never lacking in respect. Elizabeth has been troubled by Shane's willingness to use violence to solve any problem and Shane sees Elizabeth's desire to reach a peaceful accord as inappropriate in many situations. Still, they've learned to respect each other's differences and become quite close.
As to the other dwellers of the Valley, Shane's true opinion is difficult to fathom. He seems perpetually amused by Greg's threats and takes any occassion to needle Elizabeth's protector. He doesn't seem inclined to express an opinion on any of the others, treating them each with a slightly tolerant indifference.
Recently Shane was tricked into losing his divinity by Raven and Coyote, the mischievious members of fae. It forced him to view the world from a different prosepective; because for the first time in several thousand years he was capable of being killed. He undertook a quest to return to his previous strength, and after a series of trials he was proclaimed Master of the Hunt for the Valley of the Moon. During the trials he was taught wisdom from Coyote and probably would not have succeeded had it not been for the sidhe's advice. Shane now states that he owes both Raven and Coyote a debt and hopes to continue on as their pupil. He's still intent on returning to his previous power as a god of the Valley, but is not as concerned as he was in the past. It seems that even a God can learn and change despite beliefs to the contrary.
